E-mail is so easy to use, that now everyone who has a computer is sending you jokes, stories, and memos over the Internet. Before you can reply to one message, your Inbox is already jammed with another e-mail joke or Web chain letter.  This can be distracting if you're trying to work from home or conduct business over e-mail.

Outlook Express 5 offers many ways to minimize the clutter by allowing you to automatically delete, reply or forward certain e-mails. It can also sort designated e-mail into folders you create.

To set up filtering for incoming mail:

  1. From Outlook Express, click the Tools menu.
  2. Click Message Rules, and then click Mail.
  3. Click New.
  4. Select the rule conditions from the options presented.
  5. Name the rule.
